當前，在演算法的推波助瀾下，新聞得以傳播得更遠更快，但同時也放大了極端的內容，包括煽情、謊話、仇恨值、與謠言。個人論斷和主觀意識凌駕於事實之上，而科技公司與網路平台對此問題並不負責。在這個假消息比真實新聞傳播得更快的資訊戰下，多國的新聞業處於岌岌可危的狀況，失去了聲譽、影響力和收入，甚至危害到民主社會的安定。一個個民主國家陷於混亂，老牌者如英國，新興者如台灣，而且資訊愈自由，社會愈分裂。

在華府觀察美國大選，我參加了川普的選夜派對，地點是當地唯一公開挺川的 Dirty Water Bar。老闆 Luke Casey 為 MAGA 支持者提供罕見聚會場所，$35 美元入場可無限暢飲。隨著川普得票領先，現場氣氛狂熱，音樂、舞蹈、香檳齊飛。支持者認為川普能振興經濟、強勢領導，寧願賭一個改變未來的機會，拒絕傳統菁英政治，偏好他的商業交易式外交與反全球化立場。這場選戰，確實瘋狂至極。

At Trump’s Oct 27 rally in New York, a group of Japanese Christians waved a Japanese flag, supporting his reelection despite having no voting rights. They believe Trump will “Make America Godly Again” and prevent WWIII through his tough diplomacy. Meanwhile, some US citizens argue he is more likely to provoke war. This election is not just a national affair but a global phenomenon, dividing opinions both in the US and abroad.
